Kim Acupuncture is conveniently located uptown on Green Street in a space that facilitates a healing process for people from all walks of life.
"I teach patients to to heal themselves. Ear pressure, chi gong & moxibustion oil are treatments that can be done at home. I don't want patients to become dependent on my practice, rather for "tune-ups" when an injury or high stress affects their physical body." -Quang,
Acupuncture is a technique of inserting and manipulating micro-needles into points on the body with the aim of relieving pain and for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture is a medical tradition with over 3,000 years of practice. Acupuncture is used all over the world to treat Musculo-Skeletal, Digestive, Gynecological, Emotional & Social, "Eye-Ear-Nose-Throat", Respiratory, and Neurological ailments and disease.
Energy circulates through channels in your body. Inflammation of these channels causes pain & discomfort. It also causes a disruption of vital energy or "chi". Dr. Quang assists your body in healing itself through opening these channels using small sterilized needles. The amount of treatment generally decreases over time as the body heals.
Quang suggests that you have 2 hours available for your first visit. This includes consultation and treatment. Please wear loose fitting clothing. You also may feel lightheaded for a few minutes after treatment due to the opening of channels that aid in the healing process.body is naturally without pharmaceuticals.
Kim treats patients with Moxibustion or "Moxi" and gives instructions on doing Moxi treatments at home to aid in self healing. This simple technique is one can be shared with others and done as often as needed.
Moxibustion is an oriental medicine therapy utilizing moxa or mugwort herb. Quang uses moxa to warm regions and acupuncture points to stimulate circulation and increase the flow of blood and chi.
Cupping pulls muscle, skin and connective tissue away from the bone and creates room for energy, water, and air flow in the body. This process releases toxins from the body, leaving many patients with a feeling of euphoria.
Kim's treatment involves placing glass fire warmed cups on the skin with a vacuum. Cupping is also used with Cao Gio (or wind scraping) to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain. It is a very effective therapy for patients with lingering colds, cough, congestion, and viruses.
Chi Gong (Qigong) features exercises for the mind and body. Kim organizes Chi Gong sessions led by masters. These sessions provide healing of stress, physical injury and spiritual growth. They are also fun. It is the perfect individual or family retreat. Ask Kim about the next Chi Gong session.
Each year, Quang leads a group of volunteers to help blind students learn acupuncture in Vietnam & Cambodia. You don't have to be acupuncturist to be a volunteer! Participants have included oganizers, web designers, writers, photographers, grant writers, among many others.
Discover the story of people like Chị Kiều, a fashion designer who went blind from eye disease 10 years ago. Although she knew that she would soon be blind, she started searching for the right career based on her condition. It's difficult for a young ill blind lady to learn a new profession! In February of 2007, Kiều attended our class teaching the blind technique. "This technique changed my life. As a blind acupuncture student, it is a more valuable than gold!" Kiều is now active blind acupuncturist, and has assisted us in simulating "acu mode" from mannequins. This technique is used each year in training.
Ask Quang about volunteering on next year's rewarding trip.
Kim uses acupressure, a unique method type of massage that applies pressure and movement to various points on the body.
Acupressure points are places where congestion or blockages appear. By applying appropriate pressure, Kim effectively changes the flow of energy in the patient.
Dietary habits helps maintain better wellness between treatments. Food groups are divided based on the temperature. Ask Dr Quang for nutrition suggestions based on your personal situation.

I feel so lucky to have found Quang! I was skeptical going in with severe arthritis, DJD, tight muscles and fatigue. Quang immediately found the areas of my body that were in pain. The treatments work and work quickly. In addition to my pain going away, my mood and level of energy have improved greatly!
Quang is very caring. He explains the pressure points on your body, and sends you home with Moxibustion and tabs to place on the earlobes which work amazingly well! Oh, and the massage you get following your treatment with the most awesome massager is the icing on the cake. I am feeling so much better and would highly recommend Dr. Quang for all ailments, mood disorders, sleep disorders, anxiety, whatever is holding you back from living a healthy and happier life!
Went for my first ever acupuncture treatment with a recommendation from a friend to relieve my terrible tension headache, body ache, and insomnia. Am I glad I did! My initial fear of needles were ridiculous because you cannot feel the needles (no pain whatsoever) at all. Moxibustion were used in conjuction with the treatment. The great thing about this is that massages also comes with my acupuncture session!
Quang even taught me some stress relieve movement (Qi Gong) that he recommend that I do daily. My body were sore the next day probably due to me not working out as often as I should. By the 3rd day, I felt incredible. He gave me some moxa to used with direction to continued my therapy at home. I continued to go back and I have to say my overall body just feel much more relaxed each time.
I recommend anyone going to a doctor but doesn't see any result to perhaps try acupuncture. I highly recommend Kim Acupuncture Clinic!
For those who have missed it, Quang IS IT! Although I have health insurance now, and he is not one of the providers, I would still go and get treatments. While he was in Viet Nam, I saw one of his associates, Wendy, who did a fine job of treating me.
Just like Madeline T says, he treats the whole person. I may go in for one particular ailment, and then leave feeling better all over.
I would highly recommend Quang for anything. I am considering using him for my elderly dog and her aches and pains.
I would not personally recommend anything more than I would Quang. If you are in pain today, call, and you will be pain free tomorrow. (Unless he is offering Sunday appointments, which isn't entirely out of the question).
I cannot speak highly enough about Quang. I started going to see him about a year ago when I had a cold that just wouldn't go away. Within a week or so (two acupuncture sessions) I was better. After that I started going in for a "tune-up" once a month, and it has made a big difference in my overall health.
He can treat you for just about anything, and he always takes the time to figure out what is going on with you (Chinese medicine doesn't just look at the symptom, but rather takes into account the whole person).
Recently, Quang went back to Vietnam for a time so I didn't get my usual monthly appointment... I got sick. Just the usual post-Mardi Gras cold. So I saw Quang as soon as he got back. After doing the normal acupuncture, he told me he was going to do a negative energy removal on me. It was kind of weird, to be honest, but it was super super effective! Basically, he put oil on my back and neck, and then rubbed a coin outward from my spine. I had red marks all over my back for about a day (but it didn't hurt, just looked bad!). I couldn't believe how much better I felt after that!
My advice to any newcomer to Chinese medicine is this: TRY IT. It's completely non-invasive, so what do you have to lose? People have been using acupuncture for thousands of years. There's a reason why. And definitely try Quang. He is awesome at what he does!
I went to Quang with back, knee, and sciatic nerve pain and after the first visit I felt so much relief. Quang is very informative and has made me feel great again. It's so nice to get up without pain and stiffness! I recommended Dr. Quang to my fiancée who has found relief as well. I would recommend him to anyone that is thinking about acupuncture and cupping. Thanks Quang. I've found a Dr. I can trust with proven results!
I went to Kim after I had driven from California to Louisiana and had some serious back pain. Within 1 treatment, yes only 1, my back was almost completely better. I could tell he was not trying to swindle me, because he did not try to sell me anything, but suggested I buy some new insoles. After my 2nd visit, he said he thought my back did not need any more treatments unless I thought it was still in pain (which it wasn't!). Kim is very honest and a great acupuncturist. He volunteers abroad to help teach the blind and offers great care at his acupuncture center. There were customers going in and out of this place so I knew right away he was a great acupuncturist. I HIGHLY recommend Kim's Acupuncture Center!
